Materials classified as solid waste are everyday items that are considered useless and are disposed of by everyday citizens via recycling, composting, and putting it in a landfill. The materials that make up solid waste are variable, from food to glass to electronic devices

Solid waste that isn't disposed of properly harms wildlife. Plastic that gets into the habitats of animals causes them to think that it is food, and they choke on it and die. Also, dangerous chemicals and medical waste that are just thrown into a landfill can easily get into the air, dangerously reducing the air quality. Also, it takes a long time for plastic to fully decompose, so it does not benefit the soil.
